Marco Preti Duo
I was born on 9th December 1978. From the early days at Primary School I had a passion for music. I joined the local brass band playing the saxophone. The first time I met the teacher he told me that I was too small and only with a wheel barrow I could have carried the saxophone. After all I was only a 9 year old… so I abandoned the idea. As I grew older I knew the passion for music was growing with me. When I was 12 years old I organised a concert: venue my Dad’s garage. These were the instruments my inseparable friends and I used: set of pots and pans as a drum kit, keyboard and a classic guitar. As I owned the guitar, I was asked to be the guitarist! That simple and childish way was my very first approach to the guitar, a wonderful instrument… I took private lessons for few years and what I have learnt is due most of all to my curiosity and a natural ear for it. Similar situations happened to my garage/band mates. From pots and pans they moved to a proper drum kit, piano and guitar. We lived the most unforgettable adventure for few years till when personal choices drove us apart. Another experience to mention it was with the band “Staff”; three brothers, Cattaneo Livio Walter, Ivan and I. Great people and great musicians....They all became professionals playing for famous singers like Ivana Spagna and Giorgio Faletti. They taught me a lot about music. twelve years ago I met a wonderful woman, my wife now and six years ago we had our first daughter, Aurora. My family is my whole life now. I do not have any more time or stimulation to play in cover bands or to travel to various venues. I have instead been concentrating in a project I had in mind for a long time. I would like to compose, to write down in music my emotions, my ideas and I would like to sing….I am still working at it! The spare bedroom is my little recording studio with pc, guitar, studio monitor, keyboards... I do not spend all my time doing this because I would like to be famous; I am just fascinated from anything that allows me to express myself through music…and I get to do what I like best in life TO PLAY an instrument!! Musicians that had influence on my composing and playing are: Steve Lukather, Carlos Santana, Jon Coltrane, Milles Davis, Marcus Miller, Robben Ford, Jaco Pastorius, and Mike Stern. My inspiration comes from various kind of music or generally from anything that gives me strong feelings. Music can say something that words could never say. Try to explain with words the feeling of being in love with someone. Almost impossible! Try with a song……
